Volunteer
More than ever the Parade needs you to volunteer! A range of volunteer activities and time commitments are available for those who would like to be involved; prior to the parade, the day of the parade, or both. To volunteer to help with the parade, please sign up using the links below.
*June ‘25 Update: Our biggest volunteer need left is joining our Route Crew!
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who are helping canvas with neighbor notifications and posters, those of you who will be helping us post the no-parking signs, our shuttle volunteer, and those who signed up for the staging lot - we’re so grateful!!!
Leading up to the parade:
Neighbor Notifications: Full!
For what: Volunteers are needed to deliver notices reminding residents of the parade, route, date, and time.
Why: We have a responsibility to notify property owners or occupants whose sole route for ingress and egress will be impacted by the parade.
Don’t worry, we’ll provide the printed notice!
When: Any time June 1st to June 20th.
Other notes:
Parade Committee Chair will coordinate you receiving printed copies of the notices.
Super important and extremely neighborly job!
No Parking Signage
How many: 1 slots left!
For what: Volunteers are needed to attach “No Parking” Signs along the parade route
Why: To help make sure our neighbors don’t get their cars towed… and it’s required…
When: Signs must be posted no later than 24 hours before the event
Sign pickup and route assignments TBD, but likely between June 30th-July 2nd
Day of the parade:
Route Crew/Block Captains
How many: At least 50 Volunteers
For what: Volunteers are needed to monitor barricades on low-volume traffic streets, to direct cars away from the parade route and prevent cars from entering the route. Responsibilities may also include erecting barricades and/or hospitality tents.
Why: The city has decided our parade falls under the purview of the special events unit. The special events unit operates with an overabundance of caution, assuming even the smallest street should be monitored by an officer. The amount of officers, for the length of time needed, at their detail rate would cost our community over $12,000. To preserve our parade’s historical route, they have conceded to allowing some posts to be monitored by our skillful well-trained volunteers.
When: 11:00am – 2pm/end of parade
Streets will be properly barricaded, safety vests, and radios/communication devices will be provided.
Parade Staging
How many: Full!
For what: Volunteers are needed to assist in supporting the coordination of participants of the parade.
Why: Some years our parade has had up to 100 entries. Assistance is needed to ensure entries line up in the designated order. The staging lot is drop off only, many entries include large groups, some participants may need direction and guidance related to this process.
When: 9:00 am – 12:00pm
Shuttle Volunteer @ McKie Center
How many: 1 Volunteer
For what: Volunteer is needed to greet and direct shuttle riders.
Why: As our gracious hosts of who lends space for our parade to stage dictates cars parked cannot be left parked in the lot – we offer a shuttle from McKie to deliver participants to the staging lot every 10 minutes leading up to kick-off.
When: 9:30am-11:30am
